Ghost Town Glass and Chrysocolla Ring
Made by Alison Jean Cole. Size 4 1/2.
From her site: The cabochon in this ring is done old-school "doublet style" - when a clear material is laid over a soft material to protect it during cutting.
Normally optical quartz is used, but I like to use old glass that I have collected from ghost towns that I visit in my adventures. There's a good chance that this glass is from a bottle made in the late 1800's. I collected this glass at a gold rush era ghost town in the Great Basin Desert. Underneath the glass is a cool specimen of chrysocolla from Arizona.
The bezel is fabricated from brass and the ring band is hammered sterling silver.
