About Debbie Bean:
Debbie Bean is a Los Angeles based artist living in the quiet Equestrian neighborhood of Shadow Hills with her husband, dog and three lazy cats. Her career has spanned both sides of the continent, bringing a unique blend of the frenetic energy New York offers and the calmness the Pacific Ocean embodies.
Her love of stained glass started early, as she grew up with it in her childhood home. She designed her first panel when she was 10 years old for a window that needed to be replaced in her bathroom door. A few years later she took her first stained glass class when she was 16 and it planted the seed that would lead her to becoming the glass artist she is today.
Debbie uses glass as a constant medium of exploration. She works in traditional leadwork and copper foiling as well as warm glass and mosaics to create her dynamic line of decorative objects and functional home goods. Geometric architectural elements influence her designs resulting in colorful and unique handmade pieces. Her work is the embodiment of functional art, meant to be organic in nature and not perfect factory reproductions.
